Parent Governor

I am the mother of four children, two of whom (Serena and Daniel) have now left St Johns for Wren Academy, and two of whom (Vivien in Year 5 and Juliet in Year 2) are still at St Johns. I have been incredibly grateful for, and impressed by, the education that they have all received at this caring and friendly school. I particularly like the Christian values that the school instils in the children, teaching them to care for and respect others and the world around them. I have been lucky enough to make many wonderful friends in the school community over the years and have always found here the support that my family needed as my children have developed through the different stages of their childhoods. I am, therefore, very grateful for this opportunity to give something back to St Johns.

Over recent years, like many others, I have become increasingly concerned about the growing threat posed by climate change and biodiversity loss. I am worried about how this will affect our children’s futures. I know that many other parents, grandparents, and teachers share these concerns with me. I have a vision to help St Johns to adapt to our rapidly changing times and to lead the way as a school by setting an example for other local schools to follow. In taking this path I am hopeful that we can bring great benefits and learning opportunities to the current pupils of St Johns and to future generations of children also. I believe that our school’s Christian faith will give us the strength that we need to take responsibility for doing our part in protecting our planet and demonstrating to our children that positive change is possible.
