Helen Newman

I have been involved with this wonderful primary school for more than 20 years, most recently as a co-opted governor, appointed in April 2021.

My son Fred left St. John’s in 2008 after eight very happy years and I am immensely proud to still be part of this vibrant and flourishing community.

I worked as a journalist for almost twenty years and am now Chief Executive at Age UK Barnet. I’m doing my own bit to bridge the gap between the generations in our community.

I’d like to think that as well as my professional skills, my considerable knowledge and experience, I also bring a passion and commitment to ensuring that St. John’s continues to be an excellent place of learning.

Along with my fellow governors, Mr Gunn and all the staff, I believe wholeheartedly in securing the best possible outcomes for all the children at this school.
